Here is a short but sweet blurb, the EP speaks volumes itself! Thanks for your support!
Berlin based New Yorker Naifian aka Mike Genius drops his debut release on Meanbucket a synth driven garage influenced rhythmical master piece. The sweeping sub bass and keyboards make this a perfect soundtrack for the post holiday for the long cold dark nights head.
On the remix tip Nightshifter’s premier Dj Donna Summer grabs the original and turns it on it’s head with thumping kicks and a bassline that will destroy dance floors leaving us with what could be the first certified banger of 2011.
Label bosses Dj Tuco and Quime turn in two separate remixes the first of which heavily reflects Tuco’s 1996 ghetto house influences. Finally with Quime who gives us what can be described as a Uk Funky remix with an old school rave twist.
Nighshifters just sent us some treats from their first ‘new generation’ of producers ‘Talk‘. Described as ‘Deep’ ‘menacing’ and ‘new’ we are certainly enjoying this swing on things. Grab a copy of the original below, while the whole release is available from all good digi stores.
The Holy Mountain EP is Talk’s debut release and it’s pretty challenging. The title track is an epic bass music anthem and an ode to the 1973 psychedelic film by Alejandro Jodorowsky of the same name. “Finland” finds haunting choirs melding together over a percussive backbone, while “Burning Alive” is a dark, artful tech house wasteland of delayed voices and synths. “Walking Disease” finds Talk at work with lazer sitars, cinematic strings and haunting synth stabs; it’s a dark journey through dark places.
And then we have the remixes. Hot as hell Distal brings even more heat with his tense organ driven Dubstep remix of Holy Mountain. UK mystery man Skinnz made a skittery garage inspired take on the title track while LA/Canada duo LOL Boys push up the 3Ball Club. Last but most assuredly not least, Deathface gives you a kidney punch with his screaming Dubstep version of Walking Disease to round out the release.
Hostage – Requiem
Ravestep remix of the theme of ultra-depressing tale of drug woe Requiem for a Dream.
This remix I did just hit 10,000 plays on soundcloud today but you could NOT download it previously.
I have changed that today – the downloads are now enabled in 320kbps! Shit gets emotional!
I’ve put loads of other new stuff up on the soundcloud too including a track called ‘Take a Lick’ which is out later this month on High Rankin’s ‘Suicide Dub’ label, and also my new 4/4 electro stuff, as well as some other new breaksy rave tunes I have just added like
Enter Sticky Noodles, a brand new project by 2 of NYC’s finest, DJ Krames & DJ Morsy.
Both have been giving us useful tools for dj use for years, and now it’s time to unleash their ep together, combining ghetto flavoured club music that flirts with Dutch house and even bass heavy tracks. This ep contains 4 tracks crafted especially with the dj in mind and produced in a way they will bang the club, no doubt about that.
Slovakia has been producing a bunch of wicked Dj’s and Producers lately, Embryo represents in both fields and is definitely a guy to look out for! He hit us up with the old skool rave mix, something that is a close to our hearts here at Meanbucket, considering he was two when most of this stuff came out it’s very dope mix!
